Xenical works by preventing some fat from being absorbed by the body. Your doctor will check your BMI (body mass index) before deciding to prescribe Xenical.

For best results Xenical should be used with a healthy calorie-restricted diet and a regular exercise plan. Xenical is also used for weight maintenance after weight has been lost. Your calorie-restricted diet should comprise no more than 30 percent of fat.

Xenical may be used with medication for type 2 diabetes, although it may be necessary to reduce the dosage of Xenical.
